Well, after five years on the web, I finally won my first award. About bloody time if you ask me! What award did I win, you ask? For a few years, I was a Links2Go Key Resource for ASCII art! Okay, well, I hadn't heard of them either, but come on, cut me some slack! Frankly, I thought for sure my humor collection would win an award, but that's not exactly a web niche, if you catch my drift. It's more like a canyon! Anywho, I am making available to the public my now award-winning ASCII art collection. You can access it four ways:
The regular directory contains files ending in
.asc for regular ASCII and .vt for VT animation. Of
course, it won't look very animated on your screen as I don't know of a web
browser in the world that supports VT animation, so to assist in your
downloading of the files I have UUencoded all VT animation files, so you'll
also see .uue extensions as well. Also, I haven't included any
HTML formatting codes, so if you're not using a monospace type these won't
look so great. Remember, they're designed for a terminal!
I hope you enjoy my collection. Some of the artwork includes the artist information, some of it doesn't. PLEASE, if you know where credit is due and I have not recognized the artist, let me know about it (and preferably without a lawyer at hand). I'll be sure to add the artist's name and e-mail address to the image. Also, contributions are welcome: please e-mail them to me at vanhoose@lalaland.cl.msu.edu. Oh yes, for more information on VT animation or ASCII art in general, visit Joan Stark's ASCII Art Gallery, by far the slickest ASCII page I've seen, and near the top of all-time slickest pages! Also, check out Allen Mullen's ASCII Art Page for lots more info and resources.
Also for your enjoyment is a collection of in-line art and photography that you may want to go see.
Oh yes, and I also have some pictures of my wife and I for your viewing enjoyment. WARNING: These pages contain a lot of graphics, so if you have a slow link consider not visiting them! Thanks! Have fun!
