Another big meteor? Yup.

For the third time in less than a week, a few lucky mid-Michigan
folks have gotten a glimpse of one of Mother Nautre's most
spectacular--but brief--shows.

About 10:13 p.m. Wednesday, a meteor flashed across the sky here.
It follows sightings at 10:20 p.m. Oct. 19 and 1:51 a.m. Oct. 20.

The bright early morning meteoe caused the most excitement,
waking people with a loud sonic boom and rumble. Seconds later, a
1-pound chunck of it crashed through the roof of Tom and Linda
Hagon's home near Coleman, northeast of Mount Pleasant. No one
was hurt, and damage was minor.

Wednesday's streaker prompted calls to MSU's Abrams Planetarium
and local news media.

"It was a bright streak going from north to southeast," said
Jenny Pon, an Abrams employee. "The colors it gave off reminded
me of colors you see in a fireworks display, like reds and
greens."

"It was very eyecatching, brighter than Venus, and very brief,"
said Pon, who was driving in Okemos when she spotted the meteor.

Some observers said they didn't hear a sonic boom, but it may
have caused one elsewhere as it got close to the ground.

Last weekend was the peak of the anuual Orionid Meteor Shower,
but astronomers doubt the Michigan trio was related to it.
