MOON MONTHS
This request may well belong in the folklore section, but perhaps someone
on
this list may know the answer or where to find it. I saw somewhere a
listing
of names given to the full moon for each month of the year. For example
the
August full moon is called the grain moon or woodcutters moon.
Somebody posted this a few months ago: From the "Old Farmer's Almanac" 1994.
January Wolf Moon
February Snow Moon
March Worm Moon
April Pink Moon
May Flower Moon
June Strawberry Moon
July Buck Moon
August Sturgeon Moon
September Harvest Moon
October Hunter's Moon
November Beaver Moon
December Cold Moon
And of course when a month has two full moons the second is the Blue Moon!
