Todd E. Van Hoosear

My online resume provides detailed explanations of my various qualifications.

TECHNOLOGY COMMUNICATOR

Todd has focused on technology communication for more than ten years, and combines a strong technology background with his agency and corporate marketing experience to help clients focus their messaging, target the right audiences and break through the clutter.

STRATEGIC PUBLIC RELATIONS

At Topaz Partners, Todd manages the day-to-day operations for several accounts, including a major manufacturing software provider. He launched corporate financial planning company Acteon Technologies, IP (Layer 3) management vendor Ipsum Networks, and storage solutions provider RAIDCore, among others. At Weber Shandwick, Todd led the team that handled the North American launch of CMG Wireless Data Solutions, gaining strong coverage in the U.S. and Canada for the company. Prior to that, Todd led the North American media launches of high-tech venture capital firm ETF Group and global Internet services company Headstrong (formerly james martin+co). Todd has also led PR programs for Canbox, a unified communications company; Netscout, a network management product company; and Tecnomatix, a manufacturing process management company. Todd worked closely with Weber Shandwick's interactive public relations and analyst relations teams to support his clients' public relations efforts. Todd is a strategic thinker who is not afraid to roll up his sleeves and concentrate on the tactical elements of PR to get results. His strong communication skills come from years of PR, services marketing, training and technical writing.

MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS

Prior to joining Weber Shandwick, Todd served as marketing communications manager for Primix Solutions, a leading Boston-based Internet services firm, supervising that company's public relations function and supporting investor relations, direct response, event marketing and advertising. In the year before joining Weber Shandwick, Todd managed a PR program that increased technology trade and business press coverage by well over 150 percent in a highly competitive e-business consulting market. For his efforts, Todd was recognized in December 1999 as one of the company's Pillars of the Universe. Todd also provided pre-sales consulting for the company, supporting the sales function through product demonstrations. He wrote numerous white papers and bylined articles for the company, and led a training program at the 1997 SAP "Tech Ed" show on the company's technology.

TECHNOLOGY TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

As a programmer/analyst and technology trainer for Michigan State University's Computer Laboratory, Todd installed and served as technical manager for MSU's first "Virtual University" service, introduced in 1996. "MSU-VU," run primarily off of Solaris and FreeBSD Unix servers, included streaming audio/video lectures, interactive real-time chat rooms and online class materials.

In 1996 and 1997, Todd also wrote the technical documentation and developed a five-day training program for Web-based Unix systems and network administration software developed by the MSU Computer Laboratory for the Michigan Southeast Central Network Consortium (SCNC), a state-funded organization of school districts supported by the university.

From 1992 to 1997, Todd also managed MSU's non-academic computer training program. Todd has taught numerous computer courses on various topics such as: computing fundamentals, the Internet (including HTML, Web server administration, CGI and TCP/IP), programming (Unix scripting, C and Java), computing platforms (Macintosh, Windows 3.5/95/98/NT and Unix), network and systems administration (Windows NT, Solaris, FreeBSD, NeXTSTEP, and basic Cisco Router configuration) and software applications (including PhotoShop, PageMaker, Microsoft Office, and various e-mail, network news and Web tools).

EDUCATION AND INVOLVEMENT

Todd holds a Master and a Bachelor of Arts in communications from MSU, where he also received a specialization in International Development. He was included among the 2000 International Who's Who of Professional Management and in the 1991 Who's Who Among American College and University Students. Todd is an active member of the Public Relations Society of America.
